1945. From the archives it is known that Izvoznaya Kontora, which used horse-driven carriages, was transformed into the Leningrad Transport Company of the Executive Committee of the Regional Council of Workers.
1963. For the first time in the USSR, the company began freight trucking to the Socialist Bloc countries, as well as a few test shipments to Finland. The number of Russian-made trucks was 250 (MAZ 504 V) and semi-trailers from Minsk. Number of employees: 500.
1973. The company acquired 20 Swedish Volvo F-89 haulers and European semi-trailers. The company opened an official garage shop for servicing and repair of Volvo trucks, the first consignment stock of spare parts for Volvo trucks in the USSR. An educational facility for preparing specialists for the operation and repair of Volvo trucks on the entire territory of the Soviet Union.
1978. The company was transformed into «Sovavto-Leningrad» Association of International Road Transport «Sovtransavto». «Sovavto» included affiliates in Shushary and Vyborg.
1985–1989. Record number of employees and trucks: 1,300 employees and 440 trucks, of which 50 per cent were Volvo trucks.
Shipping volume: 210,000 tons per year. Freight turnover: 400,000 thousand ton-km per year.
Shipping territory: all Europe, Scandinavia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey.
1991. The company launched international bus lines using comfortable coaches on the following routes:
- St. Petersburg-Helsinki-Turku-St. Petersburg,
- St. Petersburg-Lappeenranta-St. Petersburg.
The company opened representation «Spedition Auto Freight Oy» in Kotka, Finland, which does forwarding and shipping freight with its own fleet of trucks, and has its own warehouse in Kotka seaport (3,000 sq. m).
1992. As a results of the national privatization program, the “Sovavto-St. Petersburg» Open Joint-Stock Company was formed with a capital of 47 million rubles. The employees held 51 per cent of the company’s stock. Later, most of the stock was acquired by international investors, the largest of which are “LAG-Invest” (Austria) and “Nordtransservice” (Luxembourg).
1995. The company opened its own customs terminal, Yuzhny, in Shushary. Total area 8,000 sq. m; customs zone (secure area) 30,000 sq. m. The customs office of the St. Petersburg Customs has 60 employees.
2002. Upon the approval from the Russian Transport Union, the company was granted the right to obtain CEMT resolutions for carrying out shipment within European countries.
2003. The company purchased 20 “Mercedes-Benz” Arctros 3340 6x4, 16 cu. m dump trucks and 20 “Volvo” FM-12, 6x4, 17.5 cu. m dump trucks to shipping loose materials for construction companies.
2006. The company began the construction of a temporary storage warehouse in Shushary with an area of 10,000 sq. m.

«Sovavto-St. Petersbrurg», “Pohjolan Liikenne”, and “Saimaan Liikenne/Savonlinja” with the permission from the Ministry of Transport of Russia and Ministry of Transport of Finland run regular passenger bus lines: St. Petersburg-Helsinki-Turku, and St. Petersburg-Lappeenranta.

 “Centre Autoservice”, the first official dealer for Volvo in Russia, offers its services in maintenance and repair of Volvo buses and trucks. The service shop carries out repair, servicing, guarantee servicing, and towing. A large stock of spare parts. The service shop accepts up to 24 vehicles at a time. Our station has a subsidiary on Moskovskoe Shosse by the entrance to the city in the Shushary industrial zone.
